Years after it was announced, the publishing industry's collaborative book lovers' site has finally launched.
Bookish is a database for readers, a recommendation engine, and contains premium editorial content. (The first contributors are The Onion staff, with a review of 50 Shades of Gray, Elizabeth Gilbert and Po Bronson, to name a few.)
Why should you care? After all, GoodReads and Library Thing have a giant head start. Because three
Big 6 Big 5 publishers are supporting bookish, I'm wondering if giveaways and other publisher-backed publicity will shift toward Bookish. We will see.
In the meantime, the Bookish site is supposed to contain a more robust recommendation engine than competing sites.
